Friends of Mine
My knee still hurts like a motherfucker.

I have Seabiscuit fever, thanks to the movie. Jeff Bridges, Chris Cooper, and Tobey Maguire were a joy to watch onscreen together. I also liked watching the horsies run fast.

Bananas is very silly and maybe a little boring.

I saw Adam Green (of the Moldy Peaches) at Cafe Du Nord Friday night. Summer at Shatter Creek opened. Green sings indie pop so ironic it comes all the way 'round to wide-eyed innocence again. I loved him. The crowd was so hipster they could barely stand to look at each other.

Saturday night was the Rebirth Brass Band at the Great American Music Hall, part of the North Beach Jazz Festival. The opening band was awful, more Grateful Dead than anything resembling interesting jazz. Fortunately Rebirth more than made up for it. Unfortunately the crowd still looked more Woodstock than New Orleans. I saw dancing that never should have been let out into the open.
