This Is the Way the World Ends
In view of recent events, a recap of the things I enjoyed in the Bay Area last week didn't seem at all appropriate (but by all means see Legally Blonde, Akira, and Rendan: Quartet for Two if you get a chance). Instead I just have one or two things to say and some links that might be useful.

To the talking heads on TV: do not make sweeping generalizations like "the American public demands retribution and retaliation". I am a member of the American public, and I have absolutely no desire to see anyone bombed into submission over this. I want peace, which is hard at a time like this and takes some creative thinking. But I just don't think answering violence with continued violence is a good idea.

To all members of other countries: I know my president is a complete doofus and looks like a talking monkey on TV. You have no idea how embarrassed I am to be represented by such a man. Not all Americans are like that, I swear.
