The Kiss of Morning
Graham Coxon
A London purchase, at the time of this writing only available on import. Best known for being Blur's ex-guitarist, Graham Coxon leaves no doubt in my mind that Blur just isn't going to sound that good without him on the stregth of this amazing fourth solo album. Deliberately jagged edges and an air of desperation contribute nicely to the emotional honesty. "Locked Doors" rolls along with the help of some seriously snazzy piano, while "Baby, You're Out of Your Mind" manages to be achingly beautiful and incredibly twisted at the same time. "Just Be Mine" is similarly deceptive, this time with a touch of Tex-Mex flavor. Just exactly what I'd expect from the quiet one.
