1979 - 1983: Volume One
Bauhaus
Bauhaus is another one of those bands that I missed the first (and second) time around. My death rocker friends in high school wore their t-shirts, but I just knew them as the group that Peter Murphy and the guys in Love and Rockets used to be in together. So this is the first time I've heard most of these tracks, and they're just as dark and gloomy as I could have hoped they would be. "In the Flat Field" combines slightly pretentious lyrics with some good thrashy guitar, while "Bela Lugosi's Dead" is an extended ramble through some very goth territory. Feel the angst.
